Fishy Fridays at the Low Head Lighthouse

Meet a crab bigger than a penguin!

Step into the Marine Education Centre at the Low Head Lighthouse to learn about more incredible sea creatures.
Join a short guided tour on the hour (10 AM – 3 PM) to learn about the workings of and hear a recording of the mighty roar of the world’s only operational G-type diaphone foghorn.
Look for that Giant Crab, admire the majestic White-bellied Sea Eagle and marvel at the soaring Shy Albatross. Be amazed at the history of the guiding Lighthouses around Tassie.

Find Us

We are situated at the head of the Tamar River in Northern Tasmania. The Marine Education Centre is located in the grounds of the Low Head Historic site, 496 Low Head Road, Low Head Tasmania, Australia, 7253. Travel along the East Tamar Highway towards George Town, go straight ahead at the Bell Bay round-about and again straight ahead at the round-about in George Town. Admission Fee
Entry to the Lighthouse grounds and Marine Education Centre is free.
